Linga Mudra

There often seems to be a lack of energetic practises aimed at men online so here for the men (and women too) are two mudra beneficial for men’s sexual health, empowerment and general wellbeing. These two Linga mudra can help alleviate sexual issues and also just to promote general sexual health for men. Also very good for strengthening the immune system and fighting coughs and colds. You shouldn’t do it too often as it works with fire element and too much of any one element is not balanced. Breathe in the energy through the secret chakra up the spine to the crown and down again towards the sacred area. Hands should be at the abdomen. Visualise the strength and solidity and purification. If you want to make sound with it too – wonderful activate the intentions and be free with yourself let go of any stagnant or restrictive energy and feelings. 
The second mudra combines the feminine with the masculine- the shiva linga mudra.


Shiva linga mudra is a Sanskrit term for a hand gesture that is a representation of the form of Shiva lingam worshiped in Hindu temples. Shiva is the Hindu god of destruction. Linga is derived from li, meaning “to dissolve,” and gam, meaning “to move on”; and mudra means “sign,” “energetic seal” or “gesture.”

This mudra increases heat in the body so this mudra is to be performed only for 15 minutes or less. But when there is congestion and cold you can continue this mudra for 30 minutes twice a day . Drink plenty of water and discontinue once any symptoms have been alleviated- and of course always talk to your doctor for any genuine health concerns- this practise is to complement not subvert professional medical advice. When in doubt contact your doctor first always.

Linga mudra is formed by interlocking the palms but keeping the left thumb erect pointing upward.

In Praise of the Speech of Manjushri by Je Tsongkhapa

A recitation from the forest of Tsongkhapa’s devotional poetry. Often known as a scholar here in these writings we can see a very human, emotionally expressive delight in the path of awakening. A sense of wonder at what he finds and shows his love for, and his sense of discovery. There is a strong feeling of reverence for the divine in all things and the rich wonder of life’s beautiful flourishing through all levels of reality. The name Manjushri means “Gently Auspicious One.” He is also known as Manjughosha, or “Gentle Voiced One.”

This video is dedicated to the benefit of all beings, and its posting and recitation merely an act of devotional inspiration to the power of sacred sound, speech and writing.

The Heart of The Perfection of Wisdom Sutra

A Narration of the Heart of the Perfection Wisdom Sutra in English with the tone of the planet Saturn. – For the benefit of all sentient beings Its Sanskrit title, Prajñāpāramitāhṛdaya, can be translated as “The Heart of the Perfection of Wisdom”. “Form is empty. There may be some errors in certain words being pronounced- but the power of the Sutra speaks for itself, and the purpose of this video is purely to share and make available to others the teaching of this sacred text in an audio format.

Awen – The Mind Orchestra

This is the Druid chant of the Awen set to a background of the sacred 528 Hz frequency. This music is intended as healing and shamanic medicine and less for entertainment. This music uses a five octave pentagon- five octaves for five elements within and without. This music uses Pythagorean intervals and the centaur microtonal tuning to help create healing and harmony. It has been recorded in the forest, in caves and by springs. Another essence of this music is like the wellspring of transformation. So this track is about finding the Awen (flowing inspiration) like a spring, then using it to transform your body, your speech and your mind.

This track is not just for the Pagan community, but for the transformation and harmony of all. The opening of the heart, the expansion and nourishing, the completion and birthing. So it is ideal for meditation, contemplation and finding inspiration and shamanic journeying.In this music you will hear the rush of wind, the flowing of springs, the call of birds and the sacred grove.

The Canticle of the Serene Heart

Our latest release The Canticle of the Serene Heart on Jamendo is an improvised vocal sound healing meditation to assist and promote harmony and a peaceful heart.

Recorded in the forest with a iPhone, this track is composed of multiple vocal improvisations around eachother, layered at times randomly. Intentionality plays a key role if not the most critical when it comes to sacred sound- so the sounds have come together for the purpose of assisting/ fascilitating the listeners journey into a deepening flowering of the heart. The clean clear nature of the mind.

I like recording this way, out in nature no equipment and expensive plugins and hardware, just a phone and cheap mic and the imagination. So in the track you will hear rain, wind and streams and oceans and leaves blowing in the winds- I did not try to edit them out. This track is inspired by my Druidic work with the forest and nature and the elements in general. I was lucky enough to have animals guest on the track too – many birds and other beauties 🙂

Om Ma Tri Mu Ye Sa Le Du

This track is a sound healing meditation using a 5 octave pentagon of the Earth Day tone of 194.18hz. 5 octaves for 5 elements. This track is especially created to facilitate the listeners journey into connection with the earth, with the elements, and to bring forth the harmony of grounded connection to mother earth both within ourselves and the universe of all sentient beings.

Also used accompanying the earth day tone- we have the seed syllable mantra for earth being chanted alongside the Matri or Great Heart Mantra. Out of elements, the divine loving mother of wisdom arisen from the silence, gives birth to the child of absolute compassion and loving kindness. Through the dynamic practise of the blossoming of self-arising awareness we allow the transformation of the heart and the listening ear. Om Ma Tri Mu Ye Sa Le Du is the Mantra of Compassion within the Tibetan Bon Tradition.

A brief understanding of the mantra given by :

Of the 3 kayas, it represents the Sambhogakaya, or subtle form body of the Buddha. There are 8 seed syllables within the mantra.

OM 
represents Tonpa Shenrab, the founder of Bön.

There are 5 parts to the Bonpo OM, along with 5 related symbolisms:

– The central white A represents the wisdom of emptiness and the embodiment of the dharmakaya.
– The naro (yellow gull-like figure) represents the mirror-like wisdom and the embodiment of the sambhogakaya.
– The red crescent moon symbol represents the discriminating wisdom and the embodiment of the nirmanakaya.
– The green round symbol at the top represents the wisdom of equanimity and the essential embodiment.
– The little blue AH below the main A represents the all-accomplishing wisdom and the ultimate embodiment.

Each part of the OM is drawn in one of the colors that represent the 5 elements. In its totality, the OM represents the 5 universal qualities. In Buddhism and Hinduism the syllable OM is used, but it is not drawn with all five parts, nor is it understood to have this meaning.

The red MA
represents Sherap Chamma, the loving mother who is the counterpart to Tonpa Shenrab. MA also symbolizes clarity, and OM emptiness. Or OM can represent method and MA wisdom. From the union of these 2 seeds emanate the guide Buddhas of the 6 realms of existence, which follow as the next 6 seed syllables of the mantra:

TRI 
represents Mucho Demdrug, the guide Buddha of the hell realm that is associated with the color indigo. Anger and causing harm to others leads to rebirth or experience of the hell realms. Mucho Demdrug brings us the antidote of complete and unconditional love.

MU 
represents Sangva Nangring, the guide Buddha of the hungry ghost realm. The primary cause of rebirth in the hungry ghost realm is greed, or lack of generosity to those who are in much greater need than oneself, or stinginess towards the dharma. It is said that the body if of a hungry ghost has a mouth the size of a seed, a throat the width of a hair, a stomach the size of the ocean, and legs like blades of grass. These beings have enormous need, but are unable to satiate their endless desires. This image should be understood as a metaphor of the way we relate to our own existence. Sangva Nangring offers the antidote of total generosity.

YE
is related to Tisang Rangzhi, the guide Buddha of the animal realm and the color green. The primary cause to be born in the animal realm is said to be ignorance. The suffering of animals is related to their inability to verbally communicate. Tisang Rangzhi brings the antidote of self-arising wisdom.

SA
represents Dagin Donpung, the guide Buddha of the human realm, and is related to the color yellow. It is said that the primary cause to be born in the human realm is jealousy. Jealousy can be related to wealth, clothing, or relationship, but at its core is the inability to accept what other people enjoy. Dagin Donpung brings the antidote of complete openness.

The blue LE
represents Chegyal Parti, the guide Buddha of the demi-god realm. The primary cause to be born in this realm of strife is pride. This can be pride of what you have, or pride in not having a quality or object. The main suffering of this realm is continual war, but through Chegyal Parti the antidote of peacefulness may relieve that suffering.

The white DU
represents Yeshen Tshugphud, the guide Buddha of the god realm. The god realm can also be said to be associated with pride. Legend has it that there is a great tree that has its roots in the demi-god realm, but the fruits of the tree fall in the god realm. The demi-gods are constantly challenging the gods to war in order to gain the fruits of this wonderful tree. But the demi-gods always lose the battle, for the gods are quite difficult to kill. Yeshen Tshugphud brings the antidote of absolute compassion.

Seen in this light, and understanding these meanings, reciting this mantra is a way of helping all the beings of the 6 realms of existence. Reciting this mantra invokes the guide Buddhas of the 6 realms and their sources, Tonpa Shenrab and Sherap Chamma. Through their enlightened power, our negative emotions are dissolved and all the positive, pure, and virtuous qualities of love, generosity, wisdom, openness, peacefulness, and compassion are invoked in us. Reciting this mantra helps us to connect with and reinforce those qualities within ourselves. It is not necessary to know all the legends of the various realms to gain benefit from this great mantra, but it is important to make a connection within ourselves to the virtuous qualities held by these seed syllables and come to embody those qualities.

Cold & Cough Medicine Recipe

I’d like to share this simple but tasty and effective remedy for colds, coughs and general respiratory complaints and issues. I found it best to use fresh ingredients, preferably hand picked but bought and/or dried will work well also.

Ingredients :

• one handful of fresh Elderflowers

• a sprig of Rosemary

• a sprig of Thyme

• two or three tablespoons of lemon juice

• one tablespoon of honey

How to Make :

You simply add the elderflowers with as little stalk as possible to your cup. Crush and break up the Rosemary & Thyme and add that in. Add the Lemon juice and Honey to taste and pour over boiled water that’s cooled for maybe five minutes. I find it best to not add water that’s just boiled as the intense heat will affect the medicines within. Stir well to dissolve the honey and mix the ingredients and enjoy.

The Pendant of Choice

The great garment of choice, and the choice of what to wear.

When we wake in the morning and decide what to wear for the day, we choose our selection on what looks or feels right or in some cases what we are told to by others. There is a thread. A thread of choice that joins the seams of all. Throughout our lives a very real issue is this feeling of having choice taken away, or reduced or prevented by others or by other forces beyond our control. The beyond control component is interesting as by definition its beyond our control. So rightly this could include, physical harm or aggression from others, natural disasters, alien attack the sun blowing up- there is a myriad of these. As adults and as beings the only thing we get to control and do have complete choice over is our consciousness. This is our jurisdiction, or the truth of our word/speech. The Inherent justice of our sound.

As we look into the mirror reflection getting dressed and make our selection- we can see that we have the right of choice over our thoughts, emotions and behaviour i.e our response to stimuli, response to the actions of others, response to the things that happen beyond our control. So many times we as beings as humans will say- she stopped me from doing that, he prevented me from getting there- they took away my freedom of choice. We can replace this limitation station perspective with limitless perspective. Spend enough time alive and its clear to see the world is filled with different beings that create vast oceans of variety- each with their own design and process – expand that to the vastness of all there is and it is limitless.

In this patriarchal society construct or ”choice”- those that wish to control, really do not want you to remember that choice is not optional its a default. It cannot be owned, or bought or traded or taken by force. If you have consciousness, then you have choice. But we have to stop seeing the reflections that confuse us into thinking that we are not allowed choice, whilst many things in a compelling and very real way my make us feel like this. We have whole international bodies set up to preserve and defend our rights, we have entire laws dedicated to enshrining something that exists in the non-physical plane. The choice of our consciousness. The freedom within, the jurisdiction of our infinite love. Hatred, anger and violence can only ever be healed, transmuted or transformed as energy with Love.

If you push past the layers of fear, the excuses- the justifications you remember love. Your infinite being knows this Heart-space. So instead of reminding yourself and creating reasons, instead of choosing 🙂 – to see you have choice taken away remember, you can only give this away, only you can take away or decide on your choosing on the real level- the level of consciousness. So remember what is yours to choose, and what is not. Once you have this calibrated in harmony, making choices becomes easier. Life will still cast many difficult situations and things you must decide- so give yourself a chance. Take a chance on you.

Think in your heart of what you decided to wear for your life, and also remember like choosing clothes- if your not happy with how you look and most importantly how you feel- you can always choose something new or different. Wear your pendant of choice with courage, let it shine forth your understandings and hopes and intentions. The pendant of choice is invisible yet can be felt by all, it is every design and no design all in one beautiful infinite casing of abundance. You can make choices that create more for not just you but others. The pendant resonates in the heart, it is worn on the soul and carried into the physical by the body. The mind is the conduit between these worlds. The Universe is full of infinite variety and choice. While others are busy fighting, and arguing- be your choice. This power cannot be stopped or controlled, its vastness knows no boundaries or limitations. Fashion yourself, wear and be your fashion and show it to the Universe, the everything choice.

Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville & The Phonautograph

As a printer by trade, he was able to read accounts of the latest scientific discoveries and became an inventor. Scott de Martinville was interested in recording the sound of human speech in a way similar to that achieved by the then new technology of photography for light and image. He hoped for a form of stenography that could record the whole of a conversation without any omissions. His earliest interest was in an improved form of stenography and he was the author of several papers on shorthand and a history of the subject (1849).

From 1853 he became fascinated in a mechanical means of transcribing vocal sounds. While proofreading some engravings for a physics textbook he came across drawings of auditory anatomy. He sought to mimic the working in a mechanical device, substituting an elastic membrane for the tympanum, a series of levers for the ossicle, which moved a stylus he proposed would press on a paper, wood, or glass surface covered in lampblack. On 26 January 1857, he delivered his design in a sealed envelope to the French Academy. On 25 March 1857, he received French patent #17,897/31,470 for the phonautograph.

The phonautograph used a horn to collect sound, attached to a diaphragm which vibrated a stiff bristle which inscribed an image on a lamp black coated, hand-cranked cylinder. Scott built several devices with the help of acoustic instrument maker Rudolph Koenig. Unlike Edison‘s later invention of 1877, the phonograph, the phonautograph only created visual images of the sound and did not have the ability to play back its recordings. Scott de Martinville’s device was used only for scientific investigations of sound waves.

Scott de Martinville managed to sell several phonautographs to scientific laboratories for use in the investigation of sound. It proved useful in the study of vowel sounds and was used by Franciscus DondersHeinrich Schneebeli and Rene Marage. It also initiated further research into tools able to image sound such as Koenig’s manometric flame. He was not, however, able to profit from his invention and spent the remainder of his life as a librarian and bookseller at 9 Rue Vivienne in Paris.

Scott de Martinville also became interested in the relationship between linguistics, people’s names and their character and published a paper on the subject (1857).

Direct tracings of the vibrations of sound-producing objects such as tuning forks had been made by English physician Thomas Young in 1807, but the first known device for recording airborne speech, music and other sounds is the phonautograph, patented in 1857 by French typesetter and inventor Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville. In this device, sound waves travelling through the air vibrated a parchment diaphragm which was linked to a bristle, and the bristle traced a line through a thin coating of soot on a sheet of paper wrapped around a rotating cylinder. The sound vibrations were recorded as undulations or other irregularities in the traced line. Scott’s phonautograph was intended purely for the visual study and analysis of the tracings. Reproduction of the recorded sound was not possible with the original phonautograph.

In 2008, phonautograph recordings made by Scott were played back as sound by American audio historians, who used optical scanning and computer processing to convert the traced waveforms into digital audio files. These recordings, made circa 1860, include fragments of two French songs and a recitation in Italian. This was made possible by the wonderful work of FirstSounds.Org detailed below.

Au Clair de la Lune – By the Light of the Moon (April 9, 1860) [#36]

Scott recorded the French folksong “Au Clair de la Lune” on April 9, 1860, and deposited the results with the Académie des Sciences in 1861. It remains the earliest clearly recognizable record of the human voice yet recovered.  The words have been a matter of controversy, but the latest playback—unveiled in May 2010—establishes them as “Au clair de la lune, mon ami Pierrot, prête moi—,” rather than “Au clair de la lune, Pierrot répondit,” as originally announced.  The latest work also reveals that Scott had allowed the cylinder to slow down—possibly to a complete stop—between the words “Pierrot” and “prête,” perhaps indicating a pause to check how much unrecorded space was left on the sheet.
